A tornado struck Wadesville, IN during the midday hours of March 2, 2012. The tornado was rated EF-2 intensity by the National Weather Service (NWS) survey team in Paducah, KY.
The NWS survey indicates that the tornado touched down at 12:37pm CST about 4.5 miles Southwest of Wadesville. The tornado remained on the ground for approximately 6 miles before lifting at about 12:43pm CST, approximately 0.6 miles East/Northeast of Blairsville.
The average width of the damage path was 140 yards. Maximum winds were estimated at 125 mph.
According to the survey, one wood frame home had the roof completely removed and part of the South facing wall blown-down. This took place to the Southwest of Wadesville. This is estimated to have been the location where the tornado was at peak intensity. The resident took shelter in the basement after seeing debris flying in the air near the home.
Eyewitnesses in the area describe seeing a swirling debris field, but never an actual condensation funnel. The following video from "Basehunters Chasing" generally confirms those reports, while also revealing some of the damage:
