Severe Weather Update

**Update at 6pm CDT:  Just as we had figured, an additional Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued across portions of northern Arkansas and southern Missouri:

The above severe weather watches are in effect currently, as issued by the SPC in Norman, OK.  Blue outlined areas indicate a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, while red outlined areas indicate a Tornado Watch.  You can go here for specific details on each watch area.

As you can see by the radar mosaic below, active thunderstorms extend from northwest Arkansas into the Midwest and Ohio Valley region:

Based on the strength of the activity over southwest Missouri and far northwest Arkansas, I would expect an additional severe weather watch to be issued in that region soon (in fact, I'm kind of perplexed as to why that hasn't happened already).

Meanwhile, in Texas, activity is just starting to form across Northwest and Northcentral portions of the state, to the North of Abilene and Northwest of Ft. Worth:
