Above is the latest severe weather outlook for this afternoon and evening from the SPC in Norman, OK. Severe thunderstorms are possible anywhere within the yellow shaded areas on the image. In addition, thunderstorms may approach severe levels in portions of the mid-Atlantic, near the "See Text" wording on the image.
The most organized threat of severe weather for this afternoon and evening appears to be shaping up for parts of the Northwest, in much of western Montana into Idaho. Severe storms are forecast to develop by mid to late afternoon in this region, with large hail & damaging winds being the primary threats.
An upper-level weather disturbance is currently moving Eastward across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. It appears that some thunderstorm activity may be able to develop and become organized across portions of Arkansas, western Tennessee and northern Mississippi later this afternoon as this disturbance moves into the region. Here again, large hail and damaging winds would be the primary threat.
Thunderstorms will form by late afternoon once again along the front range of the Rockies from northcentral Colorado and into southeast Wyoming. A few of these storms could produce severe hail and possibly an isolated tornado, particularly if a storm is able to remain isolated and become well organized.
