The above image shows the latest GFS computer model forecast of snow depth valid at 6am CST on Christmas Day. As you can see, the model continues to predict that snow will remain on the ground across portions of the central Plains as a result of the major storm that will impact the region tomorrow and Tuesday.
There may also be some opportunities for other areas, including additional portions of the Appalachians, and even the southern or central Plains to receive measurable snow on or right around Christmas - in association with a couple more disturbances that are forecast to move across those areas this coming (Christmas) weekend. Those possibilities are not currently reflected by the model on the above image.
