A Tornado Watch is likely to be issued in the next 1-2 hours. It will generally cover the area outlined in red on the above image.
The atmosphere is becoming very unstable across this region. Thunderstorms are expected to develop along a warm front and near an outflow boundary that has moved Southward into Nebraska from overnight and early morning thunderstorm activity in South Dakota.
Conditions favor the development of very large hail (in excess of 2 inches in diameter) and tornadoes across this region by late afternoon into this evening. A few of the tornadoes could be strong and/or long track.
Please pay close attention to the weather if you live in this region. Make sure that you have identified your best sheltering option during the late afternoon and evening hours and be prepared to move there quickly if threatening weather is observed or a warning issued.
