The Tornado Chronicles: Uniontown, KY Tornado of 3-2-12...

A strong tornado touched down just Southeast of Uniontown, KY during the afternoon hours of Friday, March 2, 2012.

The National Weather Service (NWS) survey data indicates that the tornado touched down at approximately 1:38pm CST about 2.5 miles Southeast of Uniontown, KY, and tracked for approximately 6.5 miles before lifting 4.5 miles west of Corydon, KY:


The tornado was rated EF-2 intensity, with maximum winds estimated at 120 mph.  The maximum width along the damage path was 200 yards.  There was 1 minor injury and no fatalities reported in association with this tornado.

The survey report indicates that one home (shown below) had most of its roof removed (resulting in the EF-2 damage rating).  Otherwise, most of the damage consisted of barns, trees and power lines.
