Severe Thunderstorm Watch - Including Detroit Metro - Until 9pm EDT...

The above Severe Thunderstorm Watch was just issued by the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) in Norman, OK and is valid until 9pm EDT this evening.

This severe thunderstorm watch includes the cities of Detroit and Flint.

Thunderstorms are developing near the Western edge of the watch area, and are moving Eastward.  Large hail is the primary threat, with damaging wind gusts also possible.  Remember, severe thunderstorms can also produce tornadoes without warning, even in unlikely situations.

If you live in or near the watch area, remain alert this afternoon and evening.  Make sure that you have a plan in place to seek shelter immediately if threatening weather is observed or a warning issued.
