Severe Weather Lower Mississippi Valley / Gulf Coast Region Today...


Severe thunderstorms are forecast within the yellow shaded area on the above image today, across southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi.  

Large hail and damaging wind gusts are the primary threats, although isolated tornadoes also cannot be ruled out.  Very heavy rainfall may also lead to flash flooding in some areas, particularly within the darker purple and orange shaded areas on the rainfall forecast for today, below:


Up to 4-6 inches of rainfall may take place within the darker purple and orange shaded areas on the above image.

If you live within or near the severe weather outlook areas, remain alert today.  Listen to local media or another trusted source for the latest updates and possible warnings.  Make sure to identify your sheltering location ahead of time, that way you can get there quickly if a warning is issued for your area.
