Today in Severe Weather History for August 8

On this day in 1988, severe thunderstorms along a slow moving (and unusually strong for August) cold front produced severe weather from Kansas to Wisconsin.

The majority of severe weather reports that day came from Iowa and ranged from golfball to baseball sized hail to 75 mph wind gusts.  A weak tornado was also reported in Clinton County, Iowa, which resulted in $250,000 in property damage.
