Today in Severe Weather History for August 22
On this date in 1989 severe thunderstorms struck parts of Iowa.
Golfball sized hail was reported at May City and wind gusts of 66 mph were reported at Balltown. In Fayette County, a lightning strike to a barn caused the deaths of over 700 hogs.
