Today in Severe Weather History for August 21


On this date in 1989, a severe weather outbreak took place from northcentral Kansas into Minnesota and the Dakotas.


Wind gusts of 100 mph were reported at Wilson Dam in northcentral Kansas.  In the capital city of Lincoln, Nebraska, hail up to baseball size and 5 inches of rain pounded the city, causing widespread damage and flash flooding.
