Today in Severe Weather History for August 16
On this date in 1988, tornadoes and severe thunderstorms struck a large area from North Dakota to lower Michigan. North Dakota was hardest hit, with 9 tornadoes reported. In Rolette County, ND, one tornado tracked for just over 1 mile, with a damage path 100 yards wide at times. Baseball size hail was also reported in Lakota, ND.
