Unfortunately, a cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms is developing in southeast Kansas and is moving directly toward the Joplin area at this time. Here is the latest radar image below:
Based on the current speed & direction of movement, this activity would reach Joplin between 8 and 8:30 this morning. Based on the present size of this area of thunderstorms, it will take about 60-90 minutes to move completely through the area. Very heavy rain, dangerous lightning, gusty winds of 50-60 mph, and some spotty hail around 1 inch diameter will be possible.
