Tornado Watch Issued - Kansas

The SPC in Norman has just issued a Tornado Watch for much of central and parts of southeast Kansas.  It is valid until 11pm this evening.

The watch includes the rarely used "enhanced" wording of:  "This is a Particularly Dangerous Situation...with Destructive Tornadoes Possible"

This watch area includes Wichita, Hutchinson, Russell, Salina and Chanute.

Very large hail and strong, long track tornadoes are possible in and close to the watch area.

Thunderstorms in southwest Kansas and northwest Oklahoma are becoming better organized and will move into this watch area later this afternoon and/or early this evening.  Additional development could also take place within the watch area prior to that time along an old outflow boundary just North of the Oklahoma border.
