Severe Weather Update - OK / TX

The above Tornado Watch was recently issued for parts of northwest Texas and western Oklahoma, valid until 8pm CDT.

As you can see by the radar image underneath the watch area, thunderstorms are already forming ahead of the dryline in southwest and parts of westcentral Oklahoma.  The capping inversion is weaker than yesterday, and increasing lift along the dryline has resulted in thunderstorms forming earlier in the afternoon across this region.

Very large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes will all be possible with activity this afternoon & evening.

Additional development is likely further North along the dryline into Kansas later this afternoon.  An additional watch will likely be required for that region soon.
