Severe Weather Update - Kansas

The above Tornado Watch was just issued for much of western and central Kansas, valid until 9pm CDT this evening.

Tornadoes, very large hail and damaging thunderstorm winds will be possible with any severe storms in this region.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop near a dryline and south of a warm front in southwest & southcentral Kansas over the next few hours (including the area very near Wichita).  Very large hail (baseball size or larger) is likely, and there is a higher chance of tornado development in this region as well.  A few of the tornadoes could be long track and/or strong.

If you live in these areas please remain alert this afternoon & evening.  Be prepared to seek shelter if threatening weather approaches.
