Hit & Miss Severe Weather Today...

Isolated to scattered severe storms are forecast today in the areas shaded in yellow on the image above.

While thunderstorm activity in general will be particularly widespread by this afternoon for the region extending from the Ohio Valley to the mid-Atlantic, severe thunderstorms are likely to be less organized than yesterday.  None-the-less, if you live in the areas shaded in yellow, be on the alert this afternoon & evening for stronger storms that could produce large hail & strong, gusty winds.  Tornadoes do not appear to be a particular threat today, but as always with severe storms, that risk cannot be completely ruled out on an isolated basis.

A somewhat unusual risk area for mid-May includes isolated severe storms over portions of southeast Washington and eastern Oregon, into western Idaho.  An upper level weather disturbance may cause isolated severe storms with large hail and strong winds late this afternoon & evening over this region.
