The above Tornado Watch was recently issued for the DC Metro area and northern Virginia, valid until 9pm EDT this evening.
As you can see by the current radar image below, thunderstorms currently moving into this watch area from the West are still relatively weak and/or disorganized:
The activity is expected to intensify this afternoon as the atmosphere destabilizes and a strong upper-level disturbance moves into the area.
Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible with severe storms that form in the area this afternoon & evening.
