Plains Weather to Become Active Later This Week...

After a relatively quiet weekend and start to this week, the weather is forecast to become more active (i.e., "stormy") again by mid to late week in the Plains.

A very strong upper-level storm system will slowly begin to come out into the Plains in pieces during the period Wednesday through Saturday.  At the same time, a strong dryline and weaker cold front will emerge into the region at the surface.  All of these ingredients will combine to produce active weather across the central and southern Plains for the 2nd half of the week.

In general, the areas outlined in red on the image below currently appear to have the greatest chance of experiencing strong to severe thunderstorm activity later this week.

The threat area(s) could obviously change, so please use this for general planning purposes only.  More specific information will be forthcoming this week as the situation becomes clearer...
